Protein Bars (Baked)
These protein bars pack a ridiculous amount of protein – probably because they’re mostly made of protein powder. But they’re really easy to make and come out tender but filling.
If you use pea protein powder, it’s vegan. And if you use oat flour, it’s also gluten free.
Ingredients
- 1 Cup of Wheat or Oat Flour
- 1 Can Beans (15oz / 440g) (remember to save the liquid!)
- 1⁄2 Cup Aqua Fava (liquid from the can of beans)
- 4 Scoops Protein Powder
- 1⁄4 Cup Cocoa Powder
- 1⁄4 Cup Maple Syrup
- A Pinch of Salt
Steps
Mix everything in a bowl. Take care to really smash the beans. Then, prep a loaf pan with oil and parchment paper to lift it out after.
Bake on 350F for 20 minutes.
Allow to rest & firm up on a wire rack for another 10-20 minutes. Finally, cut in to pieces and wrap in tin foil.
Notes
Pinto beans, Black beans, or chickpeas all work.
Experiment with mix-in’s. Chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, raisins, and nuts would all work great.
You can experiment with other flavors as well, like using peanut butter instead of cocoa powder. Just adjust the aqua fava to compensate for the extra liquid in the peanut butter.
